How quickly things move on! Anyway some additional feedback on my experiences with this board: The updated bios update situation on the Gigabyte site is pathetic.

The only non beta bios are the original F1 or F2. For 3T HD support it is necessary to use the beta F3a bios. There is Gigabyte G1.Assassin Marvell SATA3 AHCI F3 bios described as "final" available on station-drivers. If it is non beta why is it not on the Gigabyte website?? The much more recent F4e beta bios on the Gigabyte web site is furbar, it sends the computer into a continuous reboot cycle.

UPDATE managed to get the F4e bios working properly once I reformatted the hard rives and set-up the partition information with the hard drives attached to the G1. I thought this must be because i had not installed my drivers yet from the mobo cd, so Gigabyte G1.Assassin Marvell SATA3 AHCI went ahead and did that Next i upgraded to SP1 in the hopes that it would fix any issues, but nothing changed again.

So then i thought lets run a benchmark run to see what this drive performs like.

I found that every time i ran the bech test or did anything mildly strenuous other than just sitting looking at the desktop it would hang the drive. So i restarted and started poking aronud to see what drivers etc were running. I went into device manager and could not Gigabyte G1.Assassin Marvell SATA3 AHCI the Marvell controller drivers in there.

After about 30 minutes of slow freezing and starting while i Gigabyte G1.Assassin Marvell SATA3 AHCI to open control panel and uninstall the driver i managed to uninstall these. Eventually getting back into windows. Now my main focus is trying to get this drive to run properly using the Marvell drivers before i try and tackle the freezing again.

I updated my Mobo firmware to F3 was on F2 to see if this fixed anything. Next i though i'd wip out the MB manual and see if there was anything i missed.

I had noticed a section before i did the install where it said to pre-install the Marvell AHCI driver during the windows process by selecting teh "load Driver" option just before the installation starts page for anyone who has the G1 Assassin. I initially thought this was to be used if the MOBO did not detect the drive or somthing or if the windows installation didnt detect the Gigabyte G1.Assassin Marvell SATA3 AHCI but they both did so i didnt bother doing that the first time i installed windows.

I thought this might be the problem. So i secure erased my drive and started a fresh install.

Windows installation took over 3 hours due to this constant freezing, this is all while the OS is still installing still!! So now, my next question is, does anyone know what my symptoms might be caused by?

Does this drive have issues working with the Marvell chip or drivers forgot to mention i tried the drivers from the MOBO cd and updated ones from the net on 2 clean installs which ended up in the same results.
