When I first discovered this, I didn't think it would turn out to be as big of deal as it is, but this bug has me ready to chuck Ubuntu, so I agree that this needs to be fixed NOW. Yes the touchpad works, but because it's not properly recognized, you can't enable the touchpad specific options, like multi-touch and the all important 'disable touchpad while typing'. It's now clear that this bug effects several models from more than one manufacture, and it is undoubtedly causing MAJOR aggravation to literally thousands of Ubuntu users, but Canonical it seems is too busy adding more cutesy 'skins' and other desktop GUI changes which are absolutely worthless to me.
